Current Sand Trap Etiquette at Sandpiper Golf and Country Club

Gentlemen:

This information comes from two of the pro shop employees:

Currently, most of the sand traps have rakes but there are a few which do not have rakes yet. If you hit a ball in a Sand Trap which has a rake you must play the ball where it lies and hit out of the trap. Once you have done that, use the rake to clean up the trap where you have walked and any other rough areas in the trap.

Secondly, if you have hit a ball in a Sand Trap which has no rake and your ball is lying in hole or divot, you may lift your ball, smooth the mark, carefully set the ball down and then hit out of the trap. Only then may you improve the lie of your ball since there was no opportunity for anyone ahead of you to rake the sand.

If you have any questions, feel free to address them to the Pro Shop.
